Secession is a pipe dream. Our union can never be divided and that's a
fact. It is an unbreakable union of freeborn republics and united and mighty it
will forever stand. Breakup can never happen and you can count on it. The
Union has the men, the guns, the ships, and the missiles, and they will never
allow any part of our glorious Union to leave. We might not all agree with the government, but the
question of secession was settled long ago.

Heavy sarcasm. But listen to Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc. according to them secession is not even wanted. They now want amnesty and taxes. Who knows what Gov. Perry is really thinking, he may just be a doofus. I think it is good and surprising that so many states are asking for separation, it looks like the people are way ahead of the talking heads and politicians. Something good may come out of this, what the form is yet to be seen. Alex
Nonsense, the worlds number 2 (at the time) nuclear power, Kazakhstan, broke away form the Soviets.
And the red states could as well... They have the oil, the food, the gas, and over 80% of America's nuclear arsenal.
Nuclear codes are of no use when the weapons are in the hands of someone else.
They can be reprogrammed in an hour.
Cascadia to the West, Alantica or Oceana (or whatever) to teh east and let the remnant American Federation or Federation of American States rise, like the Phoenix, down the middle, from the Dakotas to the Gulf of Mexico.
Igor Panarin has been predicting some sort of breakup for years. Now that everything Soviet is cool with the kids in the WH, perhaps Panarin's idea will be as well.
Secession will be possible only after the federal government overextends itself to the point that the states can no longer pay it's bills.
The Soviet Union could be broken up because its various ethnic groups were physically segregated by history into geographically distinct republics.
The US cannot be broken up because a pre-condition would be extensive ethnic cleansing. The only area where this is happening is the Southwest, especially southern California.
So, the only conceivable secession would be parts of the Southwest. The most likely outcome of that secession would be merger with Mexico.
Jim ONeill of Canada Free Press has written several articles on this very subject. He lays out the reasons, process and possible end result of such an action by states wishing to divorce themselves from our currently illegal, corrupt, treasonous and vile D.C. entity called the Federal Government. I find his articles well thought out, insightful and quite realistic. God bless the Real Americans and thier loved ones. May we conservatives save our nation even if that takes devision or revolution.

I sometimes forget that my sarcasm is less than transparent for some readers.
The point of my article was that secession is possible. I used the USSR as an ironic example of an "unbreakable union" that devolved into independent states.
